This page explains the settings of the Right View. The Left View behaves in exactly the same way.

On this page:

To check or change the settings for the Right View screen:

Right mouse click inRight View > View Settings

Enter settings for the looks of the items in the Right View.

Right View Settings

Tracking PointClosed A point consists of an Easting, Northing and Elevation.

Selection box

Use the browse button [...] to select an Offset Point as defined for this equipment in the Equipment EditorClosed Part of the VOSS.net software package, in which all parameters, dimensions, layout, arms, heads and interfacing with other equipment can be defined, normally by the surveyor..
See page: Tracking Point

Vertical Offset

Enter a value if necessary.

Center on Tracking Point

Only has effect in Follow mode. The point on your equipment selected at Tracking Point will be keptin the middle and will also be used to decidewhen a new screen should be built up.

Margin

This value indicates how close your equipment can come to the edge of the viewing screen before it will be redrawn in the middle.

Option only available when 'Center on Tracking Point' above is Off.

Height Indicator

Label Precision

Defines the number of decimals of the indicator sliders.Enter a different value if necessary.

Position

Use the drop down menu to select on which side of the screen the colored Height Indicators should be shown.

EquipmentClosed In VOSS RT Equipment is the collective name for all marine and land machinery provided with positioning (and attitude devices). Render Settings

Equipment BodyClosed The main part of the Equipment; for example the hull of a vessel or the crane house of an excavator.

Select which type of drawing file to use: 3D Model / CADClosed Computer Aided Design - used for the technical representation of the works and also for equipment drawings. Drawing / Hide.
Use Settings (spanner icon) to set how the equipment should be drawn in the screen:

The various settings are identical to the ones used in the 3D View.

Boom-Stick-Sling / Pontoon / Tracks

Select which type of drawing file to use: 3D Model / CAD Drawing / Line / Hide.
Use Settings to set how the equipment should be drawn in the screen. The items listed here depend on the arms as activated in VOSS.NET>Equipment Editor>Layout>Active Arms.

Options

Show Water Level

Actual Water Level from source defined in Height Control /Tide Control.

Show Height Indicator

Sliders represent current elevations of Origin (white) / HeadClosed the tool with which Equipment performs operations, for example: drag head of a Trailer Suction Hopper Dredger, the bucket of an excavtor, a plough, Water Injection Dreger bar, etc. (yellow) / Waterline (blue) / Design level (green).

Show Height Above Design Value

Numeric indicator representing the height of the head relative to the design. This value appears only when zoomed in on the head.

Fix Clamshell Grab Orientation

For crane use only. When no sensor is attached to the clamshell, then the operator can decide to show it in a fixed position. This option is only useful when the Tracking Point (above) is set to Active Head.

Show Excavation Point

For crane use only.A yellow line will show below the head, indicating where excavation will take place.

Show Only Active Design

A Design is the model or fixed level to which fill, excavation or dredgingshould take place.

Show Survey Layer

If you don’t want to see the Survey layer and are only interested in the actual data, then the dotted line that represents this layer can be switched off.

Show Dredge Layer

If you don’t want to see the Dredge layer and are only interested in the actual data, then the dotted line that represents this layer can be switched off.

Display Structure as

StructuresClosed A Structures file is a Shape which contains a number of Objects, Model-definitions and Status-definitions in side/back views are by default presented as profile line intersections. They can also be displayed as 3D models (when defined). The browse button [...] behind the option allows for setting a band width.Within this band the models are shown.

Show Profile

Only available for excavators.

Choose which part of the head will update the grid: Head Mid/-Left/-Right/ Automatic.

Automatic normally works fine, as it will look at how close it is to design and profile.

A small label will appear in the top right hand corner of the view, showing what was selected.

OK

Click to save all changed settings.

Active Shapes

Lists shapesClosed A geometric entity or a collection of such entities. Each entity is described by basic geometry such as a point, a line or an arc. Examples of shapes are: Route, Centerline, Waypoints, Fix Set, Dump Boxes, Progress Grid Model, Designs, etc. which can be (de-)activated.Remember that this changes nothing in the Operation Settings, it only turns visibility on or off.

If a VoxelClosed In 3D computer graphics, a voxel represents a value on a regular grid in three-dimensional space. Voxels are a surface that can be used to integrate survey and geotechnical data in a single feature. In VOSS RT they are used for construction and dredging vessels, so the crew can see the types of soil present in various layers. layer (containing Lithology data from BoreholesClosed This is defined by the observed downhole soil descriptions (which may repeat) and their layer thickness (lithology).) is available in your project, it is only shown when there is Progress GridClosed A type of DTM that is made manageable through sampling measured points into a regularly spaced raster, allowing fast and conditional access. Considered to be a secondary data set; since no original points are kept.. data present at that point in order to prevent you from using the Voxel as the depth.

FollowVessel (or Crane, etc.)Vessel (or Crane, etc.)

Turning Follow off, you are able to track mouse clicks.See paragraph below.
The choice of the Tracking Point defines how the equipment is centered.

Measure

Tool to measure distance and bearing between two points.

FollowVessel (or Crane, etc.)

Follow Vessel will always make sure your Vessel is visible in the RightView. If you want to inspect and zoom into some other area away from whereyour equipment is, you can un-tick the Follow option, and move aroundin your Right View by left mouse clicks, left, right, up and down keys andZoomin / Zoom out.

Right mouse click inRight View > Follow Vessel

If the tick mark is visible, the Vessel is being Followed.
